Online Tuition Policy

The following requirements are needed for tuition to take place with OL Tutoring’s services. By engaging with our tutoring services, students and their guardians agree that they can meet the following requirements:

Technology

The student must have access to a laptop, Chromebook or tablet that has a camera and a microphone, so that the student and tutor can communicate during each session via online video call. Phone screens are not acceptable due to their small screen size. A wi-fi connection to the device used must be available during sessions for the video call to take place and so that resources and materials can be shared online.

Students require access to a google account. Students may use the Google account of a guardian or their own separate Google account. For students under 13, this must be an account created by their guardian to which they are given controlled access to.

Google Classroom

A Google account is necessary to allow access to Google Classroom, an online learning platform equipped with tools to aid learning. Typical uses of Google Classroom for the student include, but are not limited to, accessing the online video calls using Google Meet, accessing resources shared by the tutor, reading task instructions given between sessions and reviewing session notes made by the tutor. Access to this will also be available to the guardian who created the google account for the student as they will be able to use the same login details to view the same information. No downloads are required as this platform is entirely online.

Environment

A suitable environment for the student to be tutored in needs to be available. This must consist of a table and chair to sit at in a quiet space. Students must have the required materials to record their learning in each session. This must consist of at least a pen/pencil that they can use to write and sheets of paper/ a notebook to write on.

A responsible adult must be within sight or sound of the student at all times during all tutoring sessions.
